Information on the Literacy and Numeracy Framework and the Tests
What is the LNF?
A framework which has been designed by the Welsh Government (WG), so that our children develop excellent literacy and numeracy skills during their time at school. It provides all learners aged 5 – 14 years with clear annual expected outcomes for literacy and numeracy.
Toward the end of the academic year, pupils in Years 2-6 will be expected to carryout Literacy and Numeracy National Tests.
What are the purpose of the tests?
1. Provide schools with an accurate gauge of individual children's skills and abilities.
2. Help drive up literacy and numeracy standards in children throughout Wales.
3. Provide an indication on how well pupils are performing nationally (before the LNF National tests, individual schools carried out their own tests in literacy and numeracy)
