School Improvement
School Improvement
However good our school is, we as Governors want it to be even better. That’s why we work with staff every year to produce a school improvement plan.
Our school improvement plan outlines the school’s priorities for improvement and how we intend to go about improving things. In our meetings and through our visits to the school, we as Governors monitor the progress the school is making in bringing about the improvements we would like to see.
This table shows our priority for improvement for the academic year 2025-26 and what we did to improve things:
The school has continued to implement improvements identified through the wellbeing audit. This has included strengthening support for pupils and ensuring that their voices are heard in shaping school life.
A whole-school focus on emotional health and wellbeing has been developed through policy updates, staff training and engagement with external agencies. These partnerships have provided additional support for pupils and families where needed.
The school recognises the importance of continuing to build on this work to ensure that all pupils feel safe, supported and included.
To improve leadership across the school
The Governing Body has continued to strengthen its effectiveness through regular meetings, training and clearer reporting. Governors are now better able to challenge and support the school, ensuring that priorities are carefully monitored.
Staff have taken on increased leadership responsibilities, particularly in leading Areas of Learning and Experience (AoLEs). This has helped to further develop the curriculum and ensure consistency across the school. Developing leadership at all levels remains an important focus moving forward.
Learning Support Assistants have also been supported to develop their leadership skills through training and involvement in pupil support and intervention work. This has strengthened the overall support provided to pupils.
To improve curriculum, teaching and learning
The school has worked to fully implement the Religious Education curriculum in line with Archdiocese requirements. Staff have received training and support to ensure that teaching reflects both diocesan guidance and Curriculum for Wales expectations.
The new Prayer and Liturgy Directory has been introduced across the school, further strengthening the Catholic life of the school and ensuring that acts of worship are meaningful and consistent.
A focus on numeracy has been developed across the curriculum, with the introduction of the White Rose scheme and the use of mathematical resources to support pupils’ understanding. This has helped pupils to develop greater confidence in applying their mathematical skills.
Outdoor learning has been developed further in Progression Steps 1 and 2, providing pupils with valuable opportunities to learn in different environments and contexts.
Staff have also focused on improving pupils’ grammar and sentence structure. While progress has been made, this will remain an important area for continued development.
