Young Carers
Are you a Young Carer?
Let us know – we’re here to help
At St Alban’s RC Primary School, we want every child to feel supported and understood. Some children take on extra responsibilities at home by helping to care for a family member who may be ill, disabled, or facing other challenges. These children are known as young carers.
A young carer might help with:
- Household tasks like cooking or cleaning
- Giving medication or helping with mobility
- Providing emotional support to a parent, sibling, or relative
Being a young carer can be rewarding, but it can also affect a child’s learning, friendships, and wellbeing. That’s why we want to know if your child is a young carer—so we can offer the right support in school.
If you think your child may be a young carer, please contact their class teacher or the school office. All information will be treated with sensitivity and confidentiality.
Together, we can make sure every child has the support they need to thrive.
